We took on the hill to go and see Geert at The Palace!

I was back at The Palace yesterday and took on the Ally Pally hill. Halfway up I felt like Ron The Bomb must have felt going 2:0 down V Diogo. He only metaphorically had a mountain to climb; I had the real thing :)

I went along to give some support to our sponsored player Geert Nentjes. Mind you he had his own mini supporters club with him and he did just fine. He told me just before being taken up for the walk on that he felt really good.

Bearing in mind he is only 20 and really came from virtually nowhere this season it was, despite the result, a positive way to end the season for him. You can read the match report here and the vital stats were:

Match Stats
Aspinall - 88.42
Nentjes - 78.03

Aspinall - 4
Nentjes - 2

Highest Finish:
Aspinall - 80
Nentjes - 42

Many thanks to a long-term friend of the DPC, Charis from globaldarts.de for the excellent photos of Geert. Please do check out her website, she has some great interviews, translated into English on there.

Our Double prediction came in. We haven’t had much glory so far so had to mention that. Cullen had one of his bad days at the office as predicted and Huybrechts trounced Daniel Larsson.

The Bully Boy is apparently “bullied” into watching games he loses back, by his Mum, instead of just his winning performances his little boy prefers watching. Sound advice from Mrs Smith and I hope, if I get time, to dissect Diogo’s game to show you what you can usefully gather from a losing performance.

Finally, James Wade! The sooner some sort of code of conduct/yellow and red card system is brought in the better. There is no place for his behaviour in darts and then to credit his actions to be on behalf of his son really does tell you all you need to know about The Machine!

STOP PRESS: A statement has just been released by Wade! Read it here.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 days at The Palace, despite the results. Thanks to the PDC for accommodating me and Diogo. The show goes on of course and in action today is:

Jermaine Wattimena 11/21v Michael Barnard 2/1  (R2)
Alan Norris 13/8 v Steve Lennon 4/7 (R2)
Stephen Bunting 3/5 v Luke Humphries 6/4 (R2)
Steve Beaton v Chris Dobey 13/17 (R2)

We are going to be boring and stick with the favourites! Wattimena will have too much for Barnard, the same with Bunty v Luke Humphries and Chris Dobey should send the legend, that is Steve Beaton packing too at just over 3/1

Evening Session (1900)
Cristo Reyes v Rowby-John Rodriguez (R2)
Mervyn King v Jan Dekker (R2)
Adrian Lewis v Ted Evetts (R2)

Mensur Suljovic v Ryan Searle (R2)
