Ringwood Brewery Night

We ran a darts tournament and tour of Ringwood Brewery!

Our darts tournament, The New Forest Masters has had Ringwood Brewery as our main sponsor since the 2014 event. We decided it was about time we paid them a visit and see what our sponsors get up to at their brewery in Christchurch Road in Ringwood.

We took a small group of 17 to visit the brewery, take the tour, sample the goods and have a game of darts! Sounds great doesn’t it? And it was!

It is still very much a working brewery as it has been since it was formed in 1978. In 2007 the founder David Welsh decided to retire and Ringwood was taken over by Marstons. However, it is obvious when you visit the site that Ringwood Brewery still has the same ethos as it did when it was a small local brewer and it is fascinating to see the history of the brewery on the tour.

Nigel took us around the place and gave us some fascinating insight into the brewing process and the history of the place. He whizzed us round so we could get full use of the time set aside for sampling Ringwood’s fine produce!

The serious business of the night (the darts) started with a high pressure one leg straight knock out comp. There were a few surprises with this harsh format! Tony Hooper came out on top and walked away with the magnificent Ringwood Brewery hamper they kindly donated as a prize.

We had enough time for a blind pairs tournament that Tony was also a winning member of! His partner Double Top Dave Francis, who is a great friend of the Darts Performance Centre and who had travelled down from London to support the event. He went back to London with a few bottles of Ringwood ale for his efforts.

So, all in all we had a ball! A huge thanks to everyone involved in the night for putting it on. The Tours are available here if you fancy paying the brewery a visit. Or watch this space as we may do another one sometime!
